Meta Muse pricing: is Meta Muse free, and what do the plans cost?

Meta Muse pricing has three levels: a free tier with a weekly usage limit, Power at $20 a month with 500 million Muse tokens a week, and Maximum at $100 a month with 3 billion tokens a week. You can also buy extra tokens with or without a plan, and they never expire.

Meta publishes the paid plans' allowances but not the free one, so that's where most of the confusion sits. Here's what each plan includes, the math on which one is better value, what eats your tokens, and how Muse compares on cost with the other personal agents. Plan details come from Meta's help center, checked November 7, 2026.

Meta Muse plans and prices

Free

$0

A weekly usage limit Meta doesn't publish. Reported at 100 million tokens a week.

Power

$20 a month

500 million Muse tokens a week.

Maximum

$100 a month

3 billion Muse tokens a week, six times Power.

Meta's help page lists no other difference between Power and Maximum: the allowance simply grows as you upgrade. Meta's newer Muse Wonder models, announced October 12, roll out to subscribers first.

Is Meta Muse free? What the free tier includes

Yes, Muse has a real free tier, and Meta's own launch line was that it's free for most of what people need. When you reach the limit, you either upgrade or wait for the free allowance to refresh.

Meta doesn't say how big the free allowance is or when it resets. Gizmodo reported that Mark Zuckerberg put it at 100 million tokens a week, one fifth of Power, and a reviewer's meter reset on a fixed day, which points to a weekly cycle. Two practical details from TechCrunch's launch coverage: Muse asks for a payment card to get started, even on the free tier, and the app shows the percentage of your allowance that's left.

Meta Muse Power vs Maximum: which plan is better value

Maximum costs five times as much as Power and gives six times the tokens, so it's the cheaper plan per token. Spread over an average month of 4.33 weeks:

PlanPer monthTokens a weekTokens a monthCost per billion tokens
Power$20500 millionAbout 2.2 billionAbout $9.23
Maximum$1003 billionAbout 13 billionAbout $7.69

That's about 17 percent cheaper per token on Maximum. It only pays off if you'd really use five Power plans' worth of Muse. For most people Power is the right paid plan, and for light users the free tier is enough.

What uses up your Meta Muse tokens

Meta says different tasks use different amounts of tokens, and doesn't publish a price list per task. Two things are clear from its help pages:

Third-party guides say chats, tool use and background tasks all come out of one weekly pool. Meta hasn't confirmed that in writing, and there's no model picker that changes the rate.

Buying extra Meta Muse tokens

If you run out mid-week, you can buy extra tokens, and you don't need a subscription to do it. Purchased tokens don't expire, so they roll over until you use them. All purchases are final and non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.

How Meta Muse billing and availability work

You subscribe with your Meta account, in the Muse app or at muse.ai. Plans renew monthly on the date you first bought them, and Meta hasn't published a yearly plan. You manage or cancel on the same platform and account you bought on, and refunds for iPhone and Android purchases follow the app store's rules.

Muse is for people 18 and over. It launched in the US on September 8, 2026, reached Canada on September 18, Japan on October 23 and Singapore on October 27. Meta notes that prices and availability can vary by region.

What Meta Muse costs next to Claude Duet and Grok Bot

AgentCheapest way inHeavier use
Meta MuseFree tierPower $20, Maximum $100
Claude DuetIncluded with Claude Pro, $20Max $100, Ultra $200
Grok BotPremium, $30Super $100, Ultra $200

Muse is the only one of the three with a free tier, which makes it the cheapest second agent if you already pay for another. If you run two or three agents, a Muse on the free tier plus Claude Pro costs $20 a month, and moving Muse to Power and adding Grok Bot Premium brings it to $70. Our guides to Claude usage limits and how much Grok Bot costs cover the other two.

Before you rely on a Muse for anything time-sensitive, read how it behaves with email in our Meta Muse review. In our tests it answered in under a minute on an inbox that alerts it to new mail, and only after a nudge on Gmail.
